Experience Riverview Senior Living
Community and discover retirement living at its best within the comfort
of a home-like independent living environment.
Proudly serving
East Peoria and the surrounding area for more than 25 years, Riverview
Senior Living Community combines comfortable accommodations with an
array of social, recreational, and cultural activities to provide
seniors with a retirement experience unlike any other.
“We’re an
independent living community, but we also offer a comprehensive health
care center on the same campus for our residents who require special
care and treatment they cannot get at home,” says Jennifer Haag,
Property Business Development Specialist. “Our parent company, HCR
ManorCare, is a trusted leader in health care services backed by
extraordinary patient outcomes.”
Comforts of Home
Riverview Senior Living Community offers gracious, home-like
accommodations featuring stylish studios, one- and two-bedroom
apartments, and two-bedroom suites all including fully equipped
kitchens, one – and two – full baths, plush wall-to-wall carpeting, an
emergency call service, and 24-hour maintenance. Many apartments have
received renovations. “We’ve added new cabinetry, countertops, hardware,
lighting, and fresh paint to brighten up the rooms,” according to
Jennifer.
Rental rates include a full range of services from
three delicious meals per day, on-site laundry facilities to weekly
housekeeping and linen services, transportation services, and personal
banking access. According to Jennifer: “We provide residents
transportation seven days per week, whereas most retirement communities
only provide it two or three days per week.”
Riverview also
provides overnight guest accommodations if residents have family
visiting. “We do everything we can to give residents a worry-free,
comfortable lifestyle. Our residents are in good hands.”
The
Respite Stay Program at Riverview is a popular service, offering periods
of rejuvenation for caregivers ranging from a long weekend to a week,
month or season of time. “As a guest at Riverview, caregivers’ loved
ones will benefit from the comfortable surroundings, recreational
activities, and three well-balanced meals as well as transportation,
laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance services.”
Residents may
visit with friends in Riverview’s relaxing lounges or tarry with family
members along one of many outdoor walking paths on the campus’ 55 acres
of beautiful landscaping. “This isn’t just any retirement community.
It’s home to our residents. We want them to feel safe and comfortable
wherever they go,” Jennifer says.
Part of helping residents feel
at home means providing them with first-rate amenities, including a
library and a barbershop and beauty salon. The Notions Store & Café
has plenty of gifts and goodies for residents to browse, relax, and
spend an afternoon. Riverview also offers a private dining area to
celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions with friends and
loved ones.
A Proven Leader in Health Care
When seniors require special care, Heartland Health Care
Center-Riverview, a comprehensive health care center conveniently
located on the Riverview campus, provides residents with skilled nursing
care for short-term, long-term and post-hospital stays. The health care
center offers 70 beds for residents who require skilled nursing care
and rehabilitation therapy.
A leader in post-acute
rehabilitation services, Riverview provides physical, occupational,
speech and respiratory therapy by licensed therapists up to six days per
week. “We desire to help individuals reach their highest level of
independence in as short amount of time as possible. Ninety-five percent
of patients are in the health center for 30 days or less, and the
majority of patients return home to lead productive lives,” Jennifer
explains.
Riverview’s team of highly trained and dedicated
nurses and therapists offers care 24/7, and services are 100 percent
Medicare certified. Professional staff provides family support and
education through community re-entry assessments, home safety
evaluations and individualized care plans.
Health care services
encompass: a Medical Director who welcomes consults with all family
physicians; IV services; nutritional support services; advanced wound
care services; respiratory services; cardiac recovery program;
psychological counseling; restorative nursing program; special diet
accommodations; and transportation.
“We also offer the new
Omni-VR. This virtual therapy is similar to Nintendo Wii,” says
Jennifer. “The advanced technology is able to record patients’ movements
and print out a report for the doctors verifying patients’ movement
capabilities.”
Good Food, Great Entertainment
Whether living independently or undergoing rehabilitation, Riverview
residents always look forward to mealtime. “Residents on our Food
Committee can make suggestions for the menu once a month,” according to
Jennifer. “We provide three nutritious meals everyday including
low-sugar options.” Eggs cooked in any style, sausage links, mashed
potatoes with gravy, garlic bread, cinnamon applesauce, and vanilla ice
cream are just a few of the delicious options.
Jennifer says
Riverview’s restaurant-style dining helps it stand out from other
retirement communities. “We also have a café that’s very popular with
our residents at lunchtime with delicious soups, salads and sandwiches.”
Mealtime is the perfect time for Riverview’s Welcoming Committee to
introduce new residents to the senior community. “We have a loving group
of 12 caring residents who greet each newcomer as a special guest with a
gift. The committee invites them to social get-togethers and
activities, such as the Newcomers Coffee.”
And at Riverview
Senior Living Community, there are plenty of ways to stay active and
involved! Seniors can participate on the Resident Council, which raises
money for scholarships for Illinois Central College students.
Additionally, residents can enjoy a day at the Par-a-dice or shopping at
Bergner’s. For those who love to lose themselves in a good book,
Riverview offers a reading club, while residents who feel up for a
little friendly competition can engage in a game of Bingo, Wheel of
Fortune, Pinochle, or Trivia.
“Several of our residents are artists,” says Jennifer. “We have an art wall where our residents can display their own art.”
Retirement Living at Its Finest
A large part of Riverview’s activities encompass musical
entertainment three or four times per week, which residents, including
Tony Pistello, immensely enjoy. Says Tony: “On St. Patrick’s Day, we
listened to a man with an accordion and a woman who played the violin.
They played Irish music. Of course, I’m Italian, so I walked up to the
man and asked if he knew any Italian songs. They both laughed and played
one for me!”
Tony, a jubilant 96-year-old who has lived at
Riverview for three years, hails from Chicago but came to reside at
Riverview after breaking his leg. “I stayed in Riverview’s health care
center and then came to live in an apartment here,” he says. “The care I
received in the health center was just wonderful, and I recovered
quickly.”
Tony says Riverview is an “excellent” place to live.
“I love everything about Riverview. The food is great. The Italian beef
sandwiches really strike home. In the morning, they have exercise
class.”
When it comes to Riverview’s staff, Tony has no
complaints. “The staff is heartwarming, and they do their job well. They
know what we need to feel at home. They let us furnish our apartment
however we want, and if I have something that needs fixing in my
apartment, maintenance comes to repair it right away. They are very
caring people, and I am glad to call this place home!”
