Do you know of any babies that are inconsolable? How about children with reoccurring ear infections? Were there any slumber parties missed due to continued bedwetting? Without the ability to explain that something is wrong, many newborns and children experience symptoms of poor health. As a parent, you may wonder why this is happening. These symptoms may be related to stress on your child’s nervous system.
Chiropractic care is based on the law of cause and effect. For every physical, mental, or emotional symptom there must be a cause. Because your nervous system controls every cell, tissue and organ in your body, chiropractors focus on locating and removing stress to the nervous system. Any prolonged nerve interference that goes uncorrected may be causing a multitude of health conditions in you and your loved ones.
The most common cause of nerve interference in a newborn is a difficult birth. Even the most natural birth places tremendous pressure on the skull, brain, and baby’s body. During infancy, the cranial bones are not rigidly fused to each other but are instead bound together by a membrane. This allows for misalignments of the bones and the possibility to correct their positioning. As your child grows, they may experience accidents, falls, sports injuries, bad posture or even emotional stress. When the body cannot keep up with these repeated everyday injuries, it must compensate. Muscles pull on the bones leading to unbalanced strain. When the bones are out of place, it causes tension on the brain and nerves decreasing the messages it transmits.
Have your child stand in front of you. Is one shoulder or hip higher than the other? Do they show signs of dark circles under their eyes? Is your baby only rolling to one side? Does one side of their head seem to be flat or protruding more than the other? If you see any of theses signs, you need to have their body structure checked by a doctor of chiropractic as learning disorders and other health problems have been traced to structural damage at birth or in infancy.
One concern of many parents is, “Will adjustments hurt my baby?” Chiropractic adjustments are tailored to the individual’s size and unique spinal condition. With no more pressure than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato, nerve interference can be reduced in your infant or child. Many times babies will laugh or fall asleep soon after their visit. This precise yet gentle touch from a chiropractor to your child helps to allow the skull, neck and spine to return to the proper position. In turn, nerve interference is removed and their body restores balance. By removing this blockage, the body can heal itself naturally without the use of drugs or surgery.
Because nerve interference is often painless, periodic chiropractic checkups should be a part of every family’s health care routine. Pain messages only account for 10 percent of a nerve’s functions. Correcting any issues early will help ensure greater physical, mental, and emotional health now and in the future. This may help save you and your family from serious health problems that later in life could not possibly be ignored.
