For anxiety, depression, sports trauma, negative beliefs, life transitions or phobias, EMDR may be the answer.
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Your brain processes information during the REM portion of your sleep cycle. EMDR uses Bi-Lateral Stimulus (BLS) to facilitate the processing between the two halves of the brain. BLS’s can be administered by eye movements, sounds, and tapping. The benefit of this therapy is a person can reprocess experiences that have caused emotional disturbances. With this reprocessing the emotional disturbance can be reduced or even eliminated by installing new thoughts, emotions, and coping skills.
Why EMDR?
EMDR is a therapy that can be used to treat depression, trauma, anxiety, life transitions and phobias. EMDR is an efficient therapy that can save the client time and money. Usually with EMDR the benefits are felt quickly and is long lasting as the client’s internal processing of the event has changed.
Hailed as possibly the most important method to emerge in psychotherapy in decades, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has successfully treated psychological problems and illnesses — from depression, phobias, and recurrent nightmares to post-traumatic stress disorders and grief — in more than one million sufferers worldwide, with an efficiency that almost defies belief.
