Vital Care Compounder We’re Specialists in You!

  December 03, 2016
At Vital Care Compounder, we are compounding specialists who hold as our primary goal your satisfaction in quality patient care. We have a technologically advanced facility with state-of-the-art equipment, complete inventory of the highest quality medications and chemicals, and a highly trained and helpful staff to provide the best possible care for you and your loved ones. We are an accredited member of ACHC, (Accreditation Commission for Health Care) and a 30+ year member of PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America), as well as the recipient of a number of awards and accolades from our peers.

In every medical practice, there are a few patients who do not respond to traditional treatment or who have a unique need or special circumstance. These patients can be helped. Vital Care Compounder’s staff works with physicians and patients to provide the best possible solution for our patients. Because of our high-tech laboratory and equipment, we are able to provide many possibilities in compounding. Not only do we prepare common dosage forms such as solutions, suspensions, suppositories, and creams, we also have the equipment and extensive training to properly compound transdermal gels, powders, otic insufflations, nasal sprays, lip balms, inhalations, sterile preparations, and more to meet the special needs of our patients.

We will work with your healthcare provider to change dosage forms, combine multiple medications, source and formulate medications that are no longer commercially available, and accommodate sensitivities to achieve the desired therapeutic goals while minimizing the potential for side effects and eliminating unnecessary expense. We like to think of compounding as taking patient care “back to the future” as we define compounding as combining an ageless art with the latest medical knowledge and state-of-the-art technology.

One of our many patient-centered services involves reviewing your past medical history, current and previous medications, and bothersome symptoms to suggest possible solutions to your physician. One example of that service is our bio-identical hormone restoration therapy which has been successful for thousands of patients in our area. In addition to hormone restoration therapy, we counsel on pain relief, dermatological issues (we even have our own skin care line), and our newest addition PrescriptFit® complete weight loss system, which we are extremely excited to offer.

The PrescriptFit® plan was developed by Dr. Stanford Owen, a practicing internist and published author who provided the following information about the PrescriptFit® system to help us help potential patients use PrescriptFit® to achieve their healthy goals:
In the field of nutritional science, we have learned some fascinating lessons in the last decade or two. One of those lessons is that cytokines — proteins produced by fat tissue — orchestrate how most of our body’s organs work. These cytokines are essential to metabolism and when they become out of balance, or “toxic,” disease in multiple organs occurs. Production of toxic cytokines is related to a “toxic” diet of animal fat combined with carbohydrates (sugar). Cytokine imbalance contributes independently to heart disease, arthritis, depression, type 2 diabetes, and injury to nerve cells — all from the same diet.

Discovered in the 1990’s, the first of these cytokines, leptin, governs fat storage, fertility, hunger, sugar metabolism, and the immune system. Scores of cytokines discovered since leptin have equally diverse functions. Cytokine overproduction is influenced by being overweight or obese (especially with a large belly), failing to exercise regularly, overeating and consuming high-fat and high-carbohydrate foods, aging, and possessing an inherited likelihood of having certain diseases such as diabetes or hypertension.

Perhaps more important than the immune, metabolic, or cardiovascular effects of cytokines are their effects on nerve cells in areas of the brain that affect our behavior. These areas of the brain control appetite, energy expenditure (both voluntary exercise and involuntary movement), motivation, hunger and cravings, and feelings of fullness.

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): an antidote for out-of-balance cytokines
The other important lesson learned from recent nutritional research is there is a way to control cytokine imbalance through proteins called “branched-chain amino acids.” Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are “essential” to this process — they must come from our diet. One of the most important findings is that amino acids play a key role in telling our bodies how to best use insulin — a hormone secreted by the pancreas that controls energy production, protein repair, and fat storage. More and more people today suffer from “insulin resistance,” where cells “resist” the metabolic or anabolic action of insulin. The result is cells that are literally “starving” for energy and dying from lack of repair. Type 2 diabetes is the end-result of insulin resistance — and it is reversible using micronized amino acids.

When fat cells are “fed” balanced nutrition that contains essential amino acids, cytokine balance improves. Micronized (single) amino acids do not require digestion. They are absorbed faster than sugar. They do not require gates, pumps, or receptors to enter cells where they can be used for energy or repair. They increase anabolic hormones like growth hormone and testosterone and decrease catabolic hormones, like cortisone, that break down and destroy cells. Because they are absorbed instantly, the symptoms improve “instantly” in hours or days.

Amino acids and medical treatment
“A number of scientific research studies have shown that amino acids play a significant role in treating many of today’s most common illnesses and physical problems. Most notably, the American Journal of Cardiology published articles documenting the role of amino acids in counteracting chronic diseases, such as congestive heart failure, type 2 diabetes, and liver cirrhosis.” — Dr. Stanford Owen, MD

Medicine and the practice of medicine has continually morphed over the last 50 years. Gone are the days of “one pill fits all.” The compounding pharmacy evolved into its own specialty as patients began to resist the status quo and rightfully demand a care plan that suited them more specifically. Not all patients require specialty compounding for therapy success. Those who do seek the help of a compounding pharmacy that employs specially trained pharmacists with the unique ability to think outside the pill bottle and staff who listen and respond with compassion and understanding. We are that pharmacy. We are those pharmacists. We are that staff. We are specialists in you.
