LET’S GET FYZICAL Evaluating Fall Risk

  July 05, 2022
Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in an emergency room for a fall-related injury. If you or someone you know suffers from dizziness or imbalance, keep in mind that intervention is key. There are steps you can take to improve your balance, decrease the chance of falling, and help to maintain your independence.

At FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Center-Peoria, you will find doctorate level physical therapists, specially trained to successfully treat patients with vestibular and other balance related concerns. FYZICAL’s therapists receive extensive training in the most advanced balance therapies in the world, taught under the direction of FYZICAL’S National Director of Balance & Vestibular Programs, Brian Werner, PT, MPT. Brian has been in practice for over 23 years and has treated well over 70,000 balance and vestibular patients. The premier training program that he developed for FYZICAL is based on a technology system used by NASA to test postural stability for astronauts.

The FYZICAL Balance Paradigm is comprised of three frameworks:
1. Theoretical Framework
2. Conceptual Framework
3. Progressive Framework

What Is Vestibular Rehabilitation?
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program designed to improve balance and reduce dizziness-related problems. At FYZICAL a treatment plan, specifically tailored to your needs, will be developed that will improve your ability to function in activities of everyday living, reduce your risk of falling, and ultimately improve your quality of life.

Testing & Treatment
FYZICAL therapists can identify the sensory mismatch in the brain that’s causing dizziness. By identifying if the mismatch is visual or surface dependent, the therapist can follow a framework of exercises based on research and evidence.

Our framework provides each patient with a clear direction in therapy, specific to their sensory mismatch needs. With FYZICAL, you can feel confident that we will care for your fall-risk loved ones like our own family.
