Introducing the Telemedicine Solution

Capitol HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre brings compassionate care and innovative service to the Springfield, Illinois area. From the moment patients arrive, the focus is to customize a comprehensive therapy program just for them.

In addition to its many existing services, Capitol recently announced that it was implementing a telemedicine-based physician solution to deliver scalable, high-quality care to patients quickly and comfortably on location, after hours.

Because the majority of rehabilitation facilities don’t have a doctor onsite after hours, patients are often sent to the ER for care, which is far from ideal. This, in turn, delays treatment and causes unnecessary stress for these patients.

The telemedicine solution, provided by TripleCare, means that board-certified physicians are able to help provide state-of-the-art care to residents onsite, through video technology and digital diagnostic tools. Patients are treated in place at their bedside, enabling patients and their families to avoid stressful hospitalizations and giving them peace-of-mind, knowing that physician-level bedside care is available 24-hours a day. This service never replaces patients’ existing doctors, but simply supports their health care requirements when they most need it.

TripleCare’s technology allows doctors to work closely with the existing nurses and attending physicians to deliver seamless treatment, while speaking directly with, examining, and treating a patient through two-way video and digital diagnostic equipment. When TripleCare is implemented, 80 percent of its visits result in treatment in place.

Capitol HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre chief operating officer, Marianne Marcocig, said: “TripleCare is another way that Capitol HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre is maintaining its commitment to being the leading center of post-acute health care in Springfield. We are excited to bring this technology into Capitol and to further invest in our residents to ensure that they have access to the very best possible care, right at their bedside. Capitol HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre physician partners and skilled nurse practitioners pride themselves in being accessible to their patients to ensure that they receive attentive and consistent care. The team of specialists includes wound care, infectious disease, podiatry, rehabilitation, and respiratory care.

In terms of wound care, trained wound care nurses play an active role in assessing, diagnosing, and overseeing all wound care procedures and protocols. To prevent recurrence, Capitol’s unique whole person approach to care also stresses wound prevention and self-management.

“We know each of our patients has varying needs and a unique recovery path, so our ultimate goal is always to create a program that meets your specific needs and helps you achieve your highest possible level of form, function, and independence. We invite you to experience our specialized care, thorough treatments and comprehensive clinical expertise that will make a difference in restoring your overall quality of life,” says Marianne.

When it comes to rehabilitation, Capitol offers a cardiac rehabilitation program, discharge planning, IV therapy, neuromuscular therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, post surgical rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, therapies, and a transitional care program.

“Our individualized programs are designed, supervised, and executed by a team of specialists that may include physicians, nurses, therapists, and even nutritional and mental health professionals,” says Marianne.

Recovering from an injury or surgery takes work. We can guide you through that process. Our individually designed treatment plans combine specialized therapies, pain management, strength, balance, and mobility training, biomechanical reeducation, joint protection, and other techniques. By working together, we can complete the healing process.

Capitol’s comprehensive cardiac care program is a holistic short-stay program designed by our expert multi-disciplinary team to get you from acute care to home. Our medically supervised cardiac program is individually tailored with the goal of dynamic, progressive, and measurable cardiovascular and comprehensive healing. At Capitol, our dedicated team works hard to make sure both you and your heart are healthy.

At Capitol, we take the well-being of our residents very seriously and we want everyone at our facility to feel as comfortable here as they would in their own homes. We’ve recently renovated patient rooms to reflect this commitment to comfort and convenience.

At Capitol, we make it a priority to keep residents engaged, interested, and active to the fullest extent possible. Short-term and long-term residents alike enjoy a full complement of social and recreational activities designed to keep hands nimble, bodies moving, minds active, and spirits up.
