Being Retired Doesn’t Mean Settling Down

At The Reserve at Lakeview, a 55+ apartment community in Decatur, our resident testimonials speak for themselves.
Diann has been a resident of the Reserve for seven months. She’s had no trouble at all settling in, but she’ll never settle down. The retired truancy officer keeps a very busy schedule of volunteerism, putting her time and love into both Boy and Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Baby Talk, and the Boys and Girls Club, among others.

She was made aware of the Reserve by volunteering with residents there, so when the time came for her to make a choice, it was a simple one. As a lover of flowers, Diann was very attracted to the award-winning landscaping at the Reserve and found the clean, orderly community very accommodating to her personal needs. She also enjoys the centralized location of the apartments; she is close to her volunteer commitments, her healthcare, and the grocery store — a time-saving location for her packed-full days.

Her active and ordered lifestyle was a natural fit for the resident community organizer position, and she has taken to the mantle with gusto. She feels that her obligations help give her life and keep her active, but she is enabling others to do the same with each event she helps to arrange.

In her own words, Diann proudly describes some of the events that make life vibrant at the Reserve:
Living at The Reserve, an exclusive 55 and better, independent-living apartment complex has given me a new lease on life.
It has given me the chance to live independently but remain active in the Decatur community. I can volunteer and go places for many activities in Decatur.

There are many amenities and services, including mail, garbage, and laundry which are located inside this secured building. The Reserve has social events that are planned with the residents in mind. We have visited a reindeer farm, Beachy’s in Arthur, and Mari Mann Herb, just to name a few.

The second Saturday in November featured our own Norma, who taught us line dancing.
Eagle Ridge Senior Living of Decatur will visited The Reserve on November 15 for a friendly Wii bowling tournament. We had team shirts made with the Reserve’s logo on the back. Our team was very excited and couldn’t wait for the tournament with Eagle Ridge. The Reserve served treats to our guests, and a great time was had. A 92-year-old resident stunned the competition by bowling a 200!
The month of November completed its activities with a field trip to the Decatur Area Arts Council for a two-hour program on the 21st.
We have scheduled carpools for the Decatur Downtown Christmas walk on December 5, 2018.

Yes, we are 55+ and we remain active in our community, inside The Reserve, and outside. The Reserve at Lakeview is a great place to live. Come for a visit and see for yourself!

The Reserve at Lakeview is a unique place to live with tons of amenities. This is also a place where, if interested, games are available to enjoy, as well as fellowship over coffee. You will never feel alone while living here.
